Periacetabular Osteotomy for Acetabular Retroversion

Abstract

|
A case involving an 18 year-old female patient, who had suffered from recurrent posterior hip dislocation due to acetabular retroversion, was experienced. The patient was Down’s syndrome, with mild mental retardation and cardiac anomalies. She had also neglected DDH(Developmental dysplastic hip) of the Right hip, without symptoms, and no treatment was performed. For the left hip, an unsuccessful Shelf operation and hip spica cast had been performed 3 years earlier. A Bernease periacetabular osteotomy was perfromed, which was followed up for 2 years, with satisfactory results. no dislocation occurred during the 2 year follow-up period.
